What Lives Down Under?

"What Lives Down Under?” roadshow featured displays that showed children fossils, geology and other science. Created by scientists and explorers to interest children in the science surrounding the ground beneath their feet.

The roadshow seeks to ask young imaginations to conceive the dinosaurs that roamed the planet tens of millions of years ago, along with the plants and animals that existed over the time since. Over millions of years eruptions, tidal waves, earthquakes and erosion buried all those life forms – and today it’s right beneath our feet. The roadshow featured exhibitions that explain how this happened and why its relevant to people today.

O&G companies behind the initiative include: NZOG, Tag Oil and Beach Energy. The roadshow toured Taranaki in February 2014, from Whanganui to New Plymouth ending in Hawera, stopping along the way at schools in Patea, Opunake, Waverly and Stratford.
